Brophy Hosts 75th Commencement Ceremony Celebrating the Class of 2023
On May 20, the Brophy community gathered to celebrate the Class of 2023 at the school's 75th Commencement ceremony. This senior class began their Brophy journey in 2019, with the pandemic transforming their experience for a time in 2020 during the second semester of their freshman year. In a tribute included in the Commencement program, Assistant Principal for Ministry Drew Rau '02, noted that the class motto, "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another" (from the Book of Proverbs), was what this band of brothers needed to sustain them during a time when they could not always be together:
"When a global pandemic turned the academic, social and personal lives of teenagers across the world upside down and made isolation and disconnection the path of least resistance, this class of Broncos had as part of their collective identity the conviction that they need each other, that none of them could be what they are called to be alone."
Over one-third of the class graduated with Academic Distinction having earned a weighted GPA of 4.0 or higher. Congratulations to the members of the Class of 2023 who have been accepted into a total of 212 colleges and universities.
This morning, Brophy College Preparatory proudly hosted its New Student Convocation, a cherished tradition that prayerfully welcomes new students and their families into the Brophy community. This year’s convocation was particularly special, as it marked the arrival of the Class of 2028, coinciding with the school’s centennial year, as well as the Loyola Academy Scholar Class of 2031.
The ceremony included a prayerful reflection, highlighting the school’s commitment to faith and the Jesuit tradition. The event concluded with a blessing for the new students and their families, setting a positive and hopeful tone for the years to come. As the Class of 2028 begins its journey at Brophy, and the Loyola Academy Scholars continue their academic path, they do so with the full support of the Brophy community.
