Get to Know: #3 Matt Maledon
 
Matt Maledon is a four-year member of the Brophy baseball program. He is the youngest of six children, including two brothers who attended Brophy (Jake and Luke ‘21). He played two years of football before choosing baseball. He is the Vice President of the National Honor Society (4.22 GPA) and is a member of the Brophy Altruism Club. He throws a double-dragon under hook (curveball) and a lefty fastball.
 
What are you looking forward to about your senior year?
“I want to try to slow it down because it is going fast. I want to take every opportunity that I can.”
 
You had your first opportunity on the mound on Thursday. How did you feel about your performance?
“I got a lot of two-strike counts and could not finish it. I think I had two or 3 two-strike hits. My changeup was working in pregame but not in the game. I was kinda limited to fastballs and I was leaving it over the plate.”
 
What has been your favorite Brophy baseball moment?
“My favorite moment was watching Anthony Diaz hit that walk-off home run on top of the Great Hall.”
 
What are your college plans at this point?
“I am still waiting to hear back from over half the schools I have applied to. But I am looking at UMiami and Pepperdine. Very out of state and I hope to study Finance.”
 
What will you miss about Brophy?
“I will miss the student atmosphere. It is so nice, welcoming, and fun to be around.”

What animal best represents you: Liger (Lion and Tiger mix)
What is your greatest achievement(s): Varsity Baseball.
If you could time travel, would you go to the past or the future: Past.
