Get to Know: Basketball's #0 Edgar Salcedo

Edgar Salcedo is a four-year member of the basketball program and is playing his first season on the varsity team. He attended St. Francis Xavier starting in the fifth grade. He is originally from California. He hopes to attend the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University.   Edgar has one older sister, Lisset, at ASU.
 
What is your basketball history?
“I have been playing on and off my whole life. I have always been around the game.”
 
What has been your experience on the varsity team this season?
“It has been pretty nice. I like it and it is a good experience.”
 
What do you see as your role as your prepare for each game?
“I try to make my teammates better. I try to bring everyone together and have good energy.”
 
What is your favorite basketball moment?
“My favorite moment was watching the Cavaliers in the finals in 2016.”
 
Why do you wear No. 0?
“I wear #0 because I like Russell Westbrook. I like his explosiveness and athleticism.”
 
What is it like playing for Brophy now after starting at St. Francis?
“When I was in the fifth grade, they were just starting to build the Dutch. I got to play in the Dutch early after it opened. It is nice to remember how much it has grown.”
 
What are you looking forward to about the second half of the season?
“I am looking forward to the playoffs, keep building the team from where we are now and getting better.”
 
How did the California tournament help you guys as a team?
“It was really good team bonding and we got to know each other better. It was good for us.”
