Get to Know: Goalie #27 Zoran Vignjevic

Zoran is a three-year varsity player and a four-year participant in the soccer program. He has been playing soccer since he was three years old and has played for RSP, Brazas, and Arsenal clubs locally. He has one younger sister at Tempe Prep who plays volleyball. He has attended Kairos 197 and has participated in the STEM club, Best Buddies, Red and White and Big Brothers while on campus.
 
What are your goals for the soccer season?
“I want to have as many shutouts as possible. We got a good start to that on Tuesday. I want to help my team as much as a can.”
 
What did it mean to you to get the win at Desert Vista?
“It was really big. They are trash talkers but it feels good to overcome that in an honest way and a way that displays good sportsmanship.”
 
What does it feel like to make a diving save?
“There is nothing better than that and feeling the fans and your team cheering for you. It is great to have their back while they have mine after I give the ball back.”
 
What is a fun fact about Zoran?
“I played basketball until I was 12 years gold before I committed to playing soccer.”
 
How has the transition been to a new coach this year?
“It has been great. MK is a very optimistic and caring guy. He knows how to lead a team, especially with players who are grown men.”
 
What are your college plans?
“I plan to go into business and finance and go into real estate related similar to my father in that area. I am hoping I can get into Notre Dame and I have applied to Gonzga.”
 
What is your favorite aspect of playing for Brophy?
“My favorite aspect about playing for Brophy is the chemistry. Everyone really cares about making each other better and wants to work towards getting better and succeed as a team.”
 
If you could live in a book, TV show or movie, where would you live: Star Wars.
What animal best represents you: Gorilla.
What is your greatest achievement: Winning state with my friends sophomore year.
If you could time travel, would you go to the past or the future: Future.
What teacher has inspired you the most: Steve Smith.
What is your favorite holiday: Thanksgiving.
If you won the lottery, what would you buy: Mansion.
What’s your favorite dinner: Lobster.
