Brophy Cross Country Takes 2020 AIA Div. I Team and Individual State Title

The Brophy cross country program brought home its second AIA Division I state championship Nov. 12, winning both the team and individual titles. Xander Black '21, the individual winner with a 5K time of 15 minutes, 34.6 seconds, led his team to the top spot and became only the second Bronco to accomplish that feat. In 2003, Charles Hampton '03 led Brophy to the championship. One of his teammates was Oscar Borboa '05 who now coaches the team.

Borboa noted to AZCentral/Arizona Republic that "This is history. This is family." Also present at the 2020 championship meet was Mike Keahon '73 who Borboa considers the father of Brophy cross country. Keahon was the coach in 2003.

Congratulations, Broncos!
