Wrestling Posts 48-36 Win at Apollo

Junior Rigoberto Herrera posted the match-clinching win with a pin at 215 to clinch the victory for the Broncos, 48-36. 
 
Herrera was one of eight wrestlers posting victories in the match. The Broncos got wins at 106, 126, 132, 138, 157, 175, 215 and Heavyweight.
 
Sophomore Dylan Faires opened the match with a pin at 106. Sean Kennedy (126) recorded a pin with 13.7 seconds left in the first period to tie the match at 12. Khan Richardson then won via pin at 132 and Adam Angulo won by forfeit at 138 as Brophy led 24-12.
 
The match would continue to go back and forth. The Hawks got wins at 144 and 150 to bring it even at 24. Cooper Carey was then victorious at 157 and Jackson Sweetman got the win at 175 with a win in the second period. 
 
With the match tied at 36, Herrera pinned his opponent with 15 seconds left in the first period to seal the win. David Sweetman won by forfeit at heavyweight for the final margin.
 
The Frosh wrestling team posted a 36-18 victory and JV tied 18-18 in their matches with Apollo.
 
Brophy hosts Sunnyslope on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the Dutch Gymnasium. Tickets are available on GoFan.co and the match will be live-streamed on the Brophy YouyTube.
