Brett Nicholas has been named a varsity assistant baseball coach, Athletic Director, and Head Baseball Coach Josh Garcia announced. He replaces Jose “Pep” Mendoza, who stepped away after 27 seasons this past spring. Nicholas will coach the catchers and assist with hitters and catchers.
Nicholas, a Pinnacle High School and Scottsdale Community College product, played for the Texas Rangers for two seasons (2016-17) and saw time in the San Diego Padres, Chicago White Sox, and Colorado Rockies organizations. He was drafted from the University of Missouri in the sixth round in 2010.
Garcia and Nicholas played club ball together when they were 10.
