Lacrosse’s Jack Grisoni Commits to Iona

Lacrosse senior Jack Grisoni has committed to attending and playing lacrosse at Iona University in New Rochelle, N.Y., outside New York City. The Gaels play in the Division I Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

“I love the coaching staff there,” said Grisoni. “Coach Surman and Coach Kavanagh are a great coaching staff, and they're a new program, so it's kind of exciting to be a part of something new, build a culture, and be part of the foundation and the challenge to continue growing a new program.

Grisoni will play for Head Coach Chad Surman, who enters his fifth season as head coach of Iona University men's lacrosse in 2026–27 and his third year guiding the Gaels in varsity competition.

“It means a lot that I get to continue my passion,” said Grisoni. “I love lacrosse so much. When I step away from it for a week, I crave to get back on the field. So it's exciting to do for another four years, and to challenge myself to keep pushing, with a work ethic around me and my teammates, to stay disciplined and work hard.”

Grisoni will play with Brophy alum Dane Helt ‘26. He credits the Helt family and his former teammate for helping sell this opportunity.

Grisoni will play his third season with the varsity unit this season after helping the team win a pair of Arizona State Championships in 2025 and 2026. He played his freshman season at Springboro (Ohio) before a family move to Arizona.  He was an Arizona Lacrosse first-team all-state selection in 2026.

He is also a member of the Student Leadership team, Red and White Ambassadors core, Applied Business Club, and volunteers at Camp Swift every summer.

“The Brophy lacrosse program marches to the beat of Jack’s drum,” said Head Coach Pat Harbeson. “He is the emotional heartbeat of our team and someone who is respected by his teammates for the way he conducts himself both on and off the field. Jack transferred to Brophy as a sophomore and immediately stepped into an important role within our program. As a faceoff specialist, he embraces the dirty work and the little things that often determine a game's outcome. Over the past two seasons, Jack has collected 333 ground balls while winning 67% of his faceoffs. What I appreciate most about Jack, however, goes beyond the statistics. Jack brings an energy and toughness that our team feeds off, and he has developed into one of the true leaders of our program. I have no doubt he will bring that same toughness, competitiveness, and leadership to the Iona program.”

While a mid-high school transfer can be tough, Grisoni has thrived.

“I love it so much,” said Grisoni. “Brophy is the best place ever. These are my brothers now. All my best friends are on the Lacrosse team, and it is great being part of a culture and discipline that continues to elevate our game. We don't stay placid with our competition; we go out east, we go to Denver, California, Dallas, just to continue growing our game and pushing ourselves.”

He said the standard for the upcoming season is the same: win a state title.

“I'm hoping that our team can grow,” said Grisoni. “We are a very young team right now. We have a good number of seniors, but we have a lot of shoes to fill. Hopefully, by the time the season comes, we've fixed the small tweaks we need to and can keep elevating to go for the six-peat.”

Grisoni will participate in the Brophy Collegiate Commitment ceremony on Nov. 11.
