Immersions

These experiences invite students to engage communities closer to home while exploring issues that shape life in Arizona, the Southwest, and neighboring regions. Students encounter questions of migration, poverty, Indigenous dignity, environmental stewardship, and urban life while learning alongside local communities.

Kino Border Initiative
Students travel to Nogales, Arizona, and Nogales, Sonora, to encounter the realities of migration and border life. In partnership with the Jesuit-run Kino Border Initiative, students serve meals, meet migrants and staff members, and reflect on human dignity and solidarity.

Phoenix Urban Plunge
Through service and conversation with community organizations throughout Phoenix, students encounter issues related to poverty, homelessness, and social inequality within their own city.

Oak Flat Prayer Run
Hosted in partnership with the Apache Stronghold movement and the Brophy Native American Club, this experience explores Indigenous spirituality, environmental justice, and the preservation of sacred lands.

Navajo Nation and Hopi Reservation
Students learn about Indigenous history, environmental challenges, and community resilience while exploring the changing landscape of northeastern Arizona.

United Farm Workers
This immersion examines the lives of agricultural workers and the history of the farm labor movement while exploring questions of dignity, labor, and social justice.

L.A. Urban Plunge
Students engage with organizations serving communities throughout Los Angeles while exploring issues such as homelessness, gang violence, addiction, and economic inequality.

Mount Graham Prayer Run
This summer experience combines prayer, cultural learning, and a relay run through southeastern Arizona while exploring the spiritual significance of sacred Indigenous lands.
 

These experiences encourage students to examine important social issues through the lens of Catholic social teaching and the Jesuit commitment to justice. Students encounter historical events, contemporary challenges, and communities working toward healing and change.

United Nations and Human Rights
Students visit New York City and Washington, D.C., exploring the history of human rights, contemporary advocacy, and the ongoing work of protecting human dignity.

Civil Rights Immersion for Service and Solidarity
Traveling through the American South, students study the Civil Rights Movement while reflecting on race, equality, and the continuing pursuit of justice.

In Service and Stillness: Veterans and Mental Wellness
Through service, reflection, and encounters with veterans and military communities, students explore themes of presence, healing, courage, and care for others.

International immersions invite students to encounter other cultures and communities through shared life, service, learning, and reflection. These experiences foster global awareness while deepening students' understanding of faith, justice, and solidarity.

El Salvador
Students witness the effects of poverty, migration, and war while learning how the Church has accompanied marginalized communities throughout the country.

Peru Immersion and Exchange
Students engage issues of poverty, climate change, migration, and fair trade while participating in service, cultural exchange, and spiritual reflection.

Puebla, México
Brophy's longest-running international immersion explores migration, sustainability, free trade, and poverty through service and cultural immersion in central Mexico.

Dominican Republic: Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos
Students serve alongside an organization supporting children and families while learning about faith, resilience, and human dignity.

Dominican Republic: ILAC Partnership
In partnership with Creighton University, students live with host families, participate in service projects, and experience the culture and faith of rural Dominican communities.

Zambia
Students encounter Jesuit ministries in southern Africa while learning alongside local students and exploring themes of accompaniment, environmental stewardship, and global solidarity.

Some immersion experiences focus especially on prayer, spiritual growth, and the Ignatian tradition. These journeys invite students to slow down, reflect deeply, and encounter God through community, landscape, and shared experience.

Camino Ignaciano Pilgrimage
Following the path of St. Ignatius of Loyola across Spain, students travel through important places in the life of the founder of the Jesuits while growing in prayer, companionship, and faith.

St. Ignatius Mission, Montana
Students serve and learn on the Flathead Indian Reservation while exploring Indigenous culture, Jesuit history, environmental stewardship, and spiritual life within a historic mission community.
