At Brophy, retreats invite students to step away from routine and return with greater clarity, deeper faith, and a stronger sense of who they are becoming.
A defining part of a Jesuit education
Retreats are woven into the Brophy experience because formation happens differently when students step away from the pace of everyday life. In those quieter moments, they have room to reflect and pray while gaining a clearer sense of how God is at work in their lives.
From freshman year through senior year, Brophy’s retreat program accompanies students as they come to know themselves more fully and consider the kind of men they are called to become. Some retreats are rooted in class year milestones. Others invite students into deeper prayer and discernment as they prepare for what comes next.
The Retreat Journey
Brophy’s retreat program meets students at different moments in their high school years, with each experience designed for a particular stage of growth.
| Freshman Retreat (Freshmen) |
A required retreat that welcomes students into the Brophy community and introduces them to the heart of the school’s mission. During an overnight on campus, freshmen experience God’s love, begin to see service as part of their lives, and are accompanied by junior and senior Big Brothers who help set the tone for the year ahead. |
| Magis Retreat (Sophomores) |
| The Magis Retreat invites sophomores to reflect on what it means to live with integrity and to recognize their dignity as young men created in the image of God. It encourages habits of character, honesty, and faith that will shape the years ahead. |
| Kairos Retreat (Juniors) |
| Kairos, meaning “God’s time,” offers juniors the chance to step outside their normal routines and reflect more deeply on their relationship with God. Through prayer, honest conversation, and shared experience, students consider what it means to live with love, authenticity, and a growing openness to God’s call. |
| Fourth Day Retreat (Seniors) |
| As part of the Senior Ignatian Capstone class, the Fourth Day Retreat gives students time to reflect on the experiences that have formed them and the choices now in front of them. Grounded in Ignatian spirituality, it helps seniors practice discernment as they prepare for life beyond Brophy. |
| Exodus Retreat (Seniors) |
Exodus is a wilderness retreat for seniors who feel called to let go of habits, distractions, or pressures that have weighed them down. In the simplicity of the outdoors, students hike, reflect, and learn to trust God more deeply. |
| Silent Retreat (Seniors) |
Rooted in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the Silent Retreat invites seniors into prayer, scripture meditation, and sustained quiet. Through guided reflection and spiritual direction, students grow in attentiveness to God’s presence and movement in their lives. |
| Senior Retreat (Seniors) |
| The Senior Retreat serves as a meaningful bookend to the Freshman Retreat. Held on campus in the spring, it gives students the opportunity to look back on their four years at Brophy, name the ways they have grown, and consider where God may be leading them next. |
More than time away
Retreats are often among the most memorable and meaningful experiences of a student’s time at Brophy. They offer more than a break from routine. They help students become more grounded, more reflective, and more ready to live with purpose.
“Kairos was the most meaningful Brophy experience for me because it helped me grow in my faith and connect more deeply with my classmates.”
