Freshman Retreat Details and Expectations
The Office of Faith and Justice (OFJ) is excited to welcome the Class of 2030 to campus for the mandatory Freshman Retreat this weekend. The retreat begins this Saturday, September 19, at 10:30 AM and concludes on Sunday, September 20, at 12:00 PM, with students spending Saturday night on campus.
Parents and guardians should drop students off by 10:30 AM on Saturday (please park in the South Lot) and join their freshman in their assigned Big Brother room for a brief introductory discussion. If students have not received communication regarding their room assignment or Big Brother, they should double-check their messages and contact OFJ directly.
Retreat Details & Expectations
- Dress Code: Friday Spirit Day dress is required (a Brophy t-shirt, shorts that are not excessively short, and comfortable closed-toed shoes). Sunday's Closing Mass is casual attire—standard Mass dress is not required.
- What to Pack: A sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries, swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, hat, reusable water bottle, extra clothes (shirt, shorts, socks, underwear), closed-toe shoes, and any necessary prescription medications. Everything should be packed in a small duffel bag or similar bag (do not bring school backpacks).
- Dietary Needs & Safety: Meals will accommodate general preferences, and the kitchen avoids nuts. Options are available for gluten sensitivities, though the kitchen is not a certified gluten-free facility. Students with severe dietary restrictions are welcome to pack their own meals, and anyone with severe allergies must carry their Epi-pen at all times.
- Attendance: Attendance for the full duration of the retreat is mandatory for all freshmen, with no exceptions for outside commitments.
For any additional questions, please reach out to your Big Brother or OFJ staff. We look forward to an incredible weekend together!
