Lacrosse’s Finn Gest Commits to Bowdoin College

Brophy senior Finn Gest has committed to play lacrosse and attend Bowdoin College, an NCAA Division III school in Brunswick, Maine, that competes in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).

“I think I'm most excited just about the opportunity that I have,” said Gest. “I love the coaches; they are amazing. Academics at Bowdoin are superb, and I'm excited to learn and improve. It'll be a great environment for me to get better at lacrosse.”

Gest will play for Bill Mason, who led the Polar Bears to a school-record 19 wins and their third straight NCAA semifinal appearance in 2026.

“I think the coaches are definitely good people,” said Gest. “That was the first thing I noticed about them. They're good people, and you want to surround yourself with them. It made me want to go to Bowdoin. They're very smart and good at what they do. I've watched practice and film sessions. Their IQ of the game was just so good that I think I could definitely learn a lot of things from them.”

Gest, who loves playing intramurals including Spike Ball, is in his fourth season of high school lacrosse after transferring to Brophy from Georgetown Prep before the 2026 season.

“Last year was my first year here, and it was just amazing to see how much the program grew, even in such a short time, from the beginning of the season when we started in the fall to the spring,” said Gest. “The team just grew very close to each other, and we continued this year as well. We also worked very hard, not just one person, but everyone. Everyone buys into the program and does their part. It's not one guy; it's everyone.”

Gest played a big role on the state championship team in his first season. He scored 131 points on 63 goals and 68 assists. He earned Team Offensive MVP, First Team All-State Attack, and Championship Game Offensive MVP honors. Gest scored four goals and tallied seven assists in the state championship game.

“Finn transferred to Brophy last fall, and his impact on our program was immediate,” said Harbeson. “In his first season with us, Finn led our offense with 131 points and was named MVP of the State Championship game. As impressive as his production has been, what stands out most about Finn is his work ethic and his relentless daily pursuit of becoming the best lacrosse player he can be. He is constantly working on his game, looking for ways to improve and pushing himself to reach another level. In a short amount of time, Finn has made a tremendous impact on Brophy Lacrosse, both through his play and the standard he sets every day. I have no doubt that he will bring that same work ethic to Bowdoin College. Finn has helped improve our program, and I believe he can do the same at Bowdoin.

Gest enters his senior year with his commitment behind him and one more season with the Brophy program.

“It has been like a dream come true,” said Gest of his Bowdoin opportunity. “I've been playing for 12-plus years. This is what we've been working for my whole life. I'm really excited to continue. I love it.”

Gest will participate in the Brophy College Commitment Celebration on Nov. 11.
