Golf Wins Papago Invitational

Brophy won its own Papago Invitational on Thursday by 14 strokes behind co-medalist Jack Langbein, who shot a second consecutive 68 and closed strong to tie Ethan Butters of Perry. Senior Evan Tyree was tied for sixth overall at 140 (69-71) with teammates junior Luke Staples and senior Asher Nelson, who shot a tournament-best 65 in the final round. Hank Miller was 11th overall. 

Langbeon posted a scorecard with five birdies, an eagle and a pair of bogeys in the second round. He had six birdies and an eagle in his opening round with four bogeys. Nelson had six birdies, an eagle and one bogey in his round of 65.

Brophy plays Desert Vista and Corona on Sept. 3 at Phoenix Country Club.
