Golf Wins Brophy Open with Late Comeback

 

Brophy won the team title at the Brophy Open at Encanto Golf Course with a team score of 286, and Horizon’s Easton Reischl won individual medalist honors with a nine-under par 61. His round featured an eagle, eight birdies, and one bogey. Perry won the girls' title with a 314, beating Casteel (319) by five strokes. Casteel’s Samantha Evangelista was the medalist at one-over-par 72.


Freshman Andrew Kung and sophomore Dominic Bustos tied for third overall, the team's top finishers, at one-under-par 70. Luke Staples and Carlos Sugoch tied for sixth at 73. Felix Gastelum, who played as an individual, also shot 73. Tate Talley shot a 74 as an individual. 


Brophy trailed after nine holes and was in fourth place at the turn, but a strong finish gave the team the victory with a combined five-under-par over their final two holes. It was the team's third tournament title this season (Brophy Rodeo and Eolverines vs. the World).
