Fouche-Bobo Named Rugby Coach

Dayle Fouche-Bobo Named Brophy Rugby Coach

Dayle Fouche-Bobo was named the head coach of the Brophy Rugby program, Athletics Director Josh Garcia announced. He takes over the program after serving as an assistant coach for the last two years.

“I am truly honored and excited to represent Brophy as a rugby coach,” said Fouche-Bobo. “It is a privilege to have the opportunity to lead these young men and teach them not only the game of rugby, but also the values of service to others, service to the community, and servant leadership. I want to help instill the Brophy Way by teaching integrity, respect, accountability, humility, and compassion. I believe the lessons these young men will learn through rugby, combined with the values and education they receive at Brophy, will provide them with a strong foundation for success throughout their lives. My hope is that every player leaves the program with the character, confidence, and desire to make a positive impact wherever life takes them.”

Fouche-Bobo was born and raised in South Africa, where rugby is more than just a sport—it is a way of life. He lived in South Africa until he was 16 and represented his provincial teams and the Junior Springboks, South Africa's age-group rugby union team, at ages 13, 14, and 15.

Upon moving to the United States, he played for Alpine United Rugby Club, winning both the State Championship (2008) and the National Championship (2009). Fouche-Bobo then played for the University of Utah for two years before continuing his rugby career with the Utah Warriors in Major League Rugby (MLR). His playing career ended with a torn Achilles tendon.

“Coaching has always been my dream because I believe the greatest way to give back to the game is by investing in the next generation,” said Fouche-Bobo. “I was fortunate to learn from outstanding coaches and mentors throughout my career, and I feel a responsibility to pass that knowledge, experience, and love of rugby on to young athletes.”

The Broncos are a club program on campus that competes in the Rugby Arizona High School league. They won the Arizona Rugby State Championships in 2018 and 2024.
