Freshman Golfer Andrew Kung to Host Fundraising Golf Tournament
Freshman golfer Andrew Kung has started a local nonprofit and will host a fundraising golf tournament on Monday, Oct. 19, at Stonecreek Golf Course to benefit the cause. The Outdrive Collective will donate 100% of the proceeds raised to support Dr. Rafael Fonseca's cancer research program at Mayo Clinic in Arizona.
“The goal of the tournament is to help bring together golfers and the community to help support Dr. Fonseca and accelerate his research,” said Kung.
Kung is inspired by his grandmother's cancer journey and her care at Mayo Clinic. He hopes to bring all golfers together to have fun, make a difference, and support her doctor's quest to cure this cancer.
Multiple myeloma is a cancer that forms in a type of white blood cell called a plasma cell. Healthy plasma cells help fight infections by making proteins called antibodies. Antibodies find and attack germs.
