Brophy Edges Notre Dame Prep in Overtime at Visit Mesa

Senior Braeden Speed scored a game-high 27 points to lead Brophy to a 66-61 win in overtime in the 16th Annual Visit Mesa Basketball Challenge at Mountain View High School. 
Speed went 8-for-12 from the field with two triples and 9-for-10 night at the line. Senior Nick Sanford had 11 points, aided by three first-half three-pointers. Junior Ryan Burbach contributed 10 rebounds.
Brophy (7-3) led at the break, building a seven-point lead in the second half before the Saints rallied to lead by six at the 9:20 mark. The Broncos forced overtime, getting a stop at the buzzer. Luke Weiskamp scored the first five points of the extra period and Speed and Sanford sealed the game at the line.
Brophy plays again on Thursday against Bakersfield Christian at 4 p.m. at Mountain View HS.
