“Magis” translated means “the more.” It is the uniquely Jesuit concept of always striving to be more and do more; of always seeking to grow in learning, in faith and in service to others. It is evident in the Ignatian precept to “make yourself uncomfortable,” as well as the challenge from our Jesuit pope, Pope Francis, to always move toward the frontiers where there is the most need and the most opportunities to learn and grow.
“Magis” is closely linked to the Jesuit belief of Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam, (for the Greater Glory of God).
