Basketball Falls in Overtime at Father Barry 54-52

The Brophy basketball team lost 54-52 to Archbishop Mitty in overtime at the Father Barry Christmas Classic in Sacramento. 
Senior Braeden Speed led the team with 19 points. Speed and Ryan Burbach, who scored eight points in the championship game, were named to the all-tournament team. It was the second career all-tournament selection for Speed at the Father Barry (2021). Nick Sanford also scored eight in the final.
Brophy led 28-23 at the half after a Burbach triple at the buzzer after trailing by as many as eight points in the half. Sanford scored six points in the quarter. Mitty cut into the third and led 37-36 starting the fourth as the team battled down the stretch.
Tournament MVP Tyler Jones scored 15 of his 27 after halftime including a late three that tied the game to help force overtime.
Brophy (5-1) had a chance to tie the game down 2 in the overtime but lost the ball on the possession.
