Brophy College Preparatory is a private, Jesuit, Catholic, high school which is “…dedicated to students of all socio-economic backgrounds who have the potential and desire to maximize their God-given gifts.” (Brophy Mission Statement)

Since Jesuit high schools were founded in the mid 1500’s, students of all religions, socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds have been served. This diversity is a hallmark of Jesuit education as it is exactly this diversity that provides a richer, more open educational classroom experience for all.

The Financial Aid Program is committed to providing aid to all students with identified need. Several factors are taken into consideration, family income, number of dependents, health expenses, current family commitments to other private school education tuition, etc. Circumstances can vary from family to family.  Based on those circumstances, financial aid funding is awarded case by case to those who qualify with verified, identified need.

Students are first admitted to Brophy based on their qualifications and only after admittance, do students apply for financial aid so from year to year it is difficult to specifically identify what Brophy students’ financial needs will be.

TUITION

2013-2014 Tuition and Fees

2013-2014 Financial Calendar

The annual tuition rate for the 2013-2014 school year is $13,500.  Please remember there are other cost/fees involved in your son’s education, which for new students includes the cost of his tablet computer. The other costs due at registration such as books, locks, pictures, etc. will range from $100.00 to $300.00 for new students.

The three tuition payment options are annual, semester and monthly.  The first payment due date will depend on the payment plan you choose.  A new student fee of $50.00 and a non-refundable deposit of $400.00 are required when you register.  The deposit will be applied to the total tuition amount.  If you have any questions concerning the tuition or payment schedules, or other financial arrangements, contact the Business Office, at (602) 264-5291, extension 6229.

FINANCIAL AID PROGRAM

The Direct Grants Program is a single monetary award applied directly against the total tuition amount.

The Work Grants Program, when awarded with the Direct Grants Program, can be fulfilled by working on campus or securing off campus employment. If a student does secure off campus employment, their net pay will be matched dollar for dollar by Brophy to pay off the amount of the tuition grant awarded.  Senior and Junior students are greatly encouraged to participate in this off campus employment program.

Financial aid applications that qualify may also be reviewed by the Brophy Community Foundation, a school tuition organization that awards tuition aid to students with a verified financial need.

Financial aid awards are also available to students who qualify by verified need for the Apple iPad tablet.  Students who qualify for a financial grant of more than half of the 2013-2014 annual tuition could be awarded a grant allocation and a work grant allocation to cover the cost of the Apple iPad.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is FACTS?
FACTS is a service used by more than 2600 institutions across the country to organize and help assess a family’s ability to pay school costs. The FACTS service provides an opportunity to collect a family’s financial aid information in an objective and consistent manner.

What is the Brophy Community Foundation?

The Brophy Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) school tuition organization certified by the Arizona Department of Revenue to receive both individual, corporate, and insurance premium tax credit donations.  At least 90% of the Foundation’s annual revenues are allocated to students, with a verified financial need, for tuition aid so they may attend a qualified Arizona K-12 private school.

The Brophy Community Foundation has never accepted donations designated to a specific student.  Arizona law now requires all school tuition organizations to state the following on all printed materials and websites:  “A school tuition organization cannot award, restrict or reserve scholarships solely on the basis of donor recommendation.  A taxpayer may not claim a tax credit if the taxpayer agrees to swap donations with another taxpayer to benefit either taxpayer’s own dependent.”

Who makes the financial aid grant decisions?
The Financial Aid Committee makes the decisions about financial aid using the information compiled by the FACTS service. All information is kept strictly confidential.  The Financial Aid Committee may also recommend students to the Brophy Community Foundation for financial aid.  The criteria for awarding this financial aid and actual selection of these recipients are determined by the Brophy Community Foundation’s financial aid committee.

What is the deadline for applying for financial aid for the 2013-2014 school year?
The application deadline is April 15, 2013.  Notification letters will be mailed for all submitted, verified and completed applications by the end of May, 2013.

If parents are separated or divorced, what is the financial aid application process?
If parents are separated or divorced, both parents are required to submit a separate FACTS application.

Are you able to tell a family if they will qualify for financial aid if they fall within a certain income range?
The amount of aid offered depends on a family’s unique financial circumstances.  A family’s income and assets from all sources, its debts and expenses, as well as the family’s priority of spending are all taken into account.  Also taken into consideration is the review that the family is allocating the maximum amount of resources within its capacity to the educational costs of its children.
