Virtual learning allowed Literacy Volunteers to reach a broader scope of students. Those who were not able to attend in-person sessions were allowed to complete their coursework online.
"We have a lot of people that attend virtually because they cannot make it. They don't have child care, they don't have transportation, they live too far away," Ramos said. "It opens the door for a lot of people."
Their mantra, "It is better to be doing something than nothing", teaches students that as different as in-person and online instruction may be, consistent effort of any measure will yield results.
Committed to the pursuit of innovation, Love and his team hope to expand their team, their reach and their facilities to promote adult literacy to anyone seeking it.
"If I can, every day, serve more and more students that are going to become better people, better members of society, better parents, why not?" Love said.
