Lacrosse Wins Season Opener over Palo Verde (Nev.)

Junior Laird Miller had four goals to help Brophy post a 12-9 victory over Palo Verde out of Las Vegas in their season opener Friday night at the Graham Family Sports Campus.

Brophy (1-0) fell behind 5-2 after the first period but rallied to tie the game at 7-7 at the half. The Bronco's defense stepped up in the second half holding the Panthers to just two goals with Miller scoring two of his four goals. Brophy also got two second-half goals from Joshua Buse and a solo tally by Erik Volfson.

Brophy had 35 ground balls in the game behind 11 from junior Deion James to just 16 for the Panthers.

Brophy hosts Bishop Gorman at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

The campuses of Xavier and Brophy will be busy this weekend with numerous events and we expect overflow parking on Saturday. The Post Office lot on Highland and 8th Place will be available for overflow parking as well as parking along Pierson Street to the North of the Graham Family Sports Campus. The Xavier and Brophy lots are also available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
