Swimming’s Gabe Gonda Named  Scholastic All-America Recipient

Senior Gabe Gonda was named a 2021-22 Scholastic All-American by USA Swimming. It is the second consecutive year he has earned the honor.

To qualify athletes in 9-12th grades must have maintained a minimum 3.5 grade point average (GPA) and meet any of the competition criteria during the qualifying period of September 1, 2021 – August 31, 2022. Applicants must have swum an individual pool time equal to or faster than the 2022 Winter Junior National qualifying time in any individual event during the Scholastic All-America qualifying period.

Gonda, who has committed to Georgetown University, recently finished his senior season for the Broncos. He helped the team to a third-place finish in Division I.

He earned All-Premier Region first-team honors in the 100 backstroke after placing third at the state meet in a time of 51.03. He was a second-team selection in the 100 butterfly after touching second in 49.87.

Gonda also led off the 200 medley relay with freshman Mark Heffern, junior Theodore Neilson and senior Rodrigo Carvajal, earning first-team honors, while earning all-region first-team honorees in the 200 freestyle relay (Carvajal, Oprandy, Finnegan Crawford).
