Les Schwab Invitational Field Announced

PORTLAND, OR– The Les Schwab Invitational presented by Express Employment Professionals – one of the most prolific holiday high school basketball tournaments in the country – returns to Liberty High School this December with entertaining basketball games and fun for the entire family. This year marks The 26th Anniversary for the holiday basketball tournament, and it will once again feature future college and NBA stars that the tournament has been accustomed to showcasing for over two decades. The Les Schwab Invitational Presented by Express Employment Professionals will maintain its traditional post-Christmas dates and take place December 26th – 30th at Liberty High School. Headlining the list of teams at the 26th Annual Les Schwab Invitational Presented by Express Employment Professionals will be 2018 tournament champion Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, CA). Sierra Canyon has a star-studded roster headlined by senior guard Bronny James (6’3). James, the son of NBA Superstar LeBron James, enters his senior year ranked #34 by ESPN, and is being pursued by a number of high-major colleges including the University of Oregon, The Ohio State University and UCLA. Sierra Canyon also features five-star junior guard Isaiah Elohim (6’4), who is being courted by blue blood programs such as Kentucky and Kansas.

Making their LSI debut will be Duncanville (Duncanville, TX). Duncanville will be led by Ron Holland (6’8), a two-time gold medalist with USA Basketball, a consensus top-10 player in the senior class and a likely ‘one-and-done’ lottery pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Duncanville is considered by many the top public school in the country and has won four consecutive Texas State Championships. Also making their LSI debut will be Brophy College Prep (Phoenix, Arizona), led by senior forward Arman Madi (6’6) and junior guard Braeden Speed (6’3).

Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV), a likely Top-10 ranked team in the country when the national polls release, returns to the Les Schwab Invitational Presented by Express Employment Professionals for the fourth time and will look to bring home their first tournament championship. The Gaels, who have won 9 of the past 10 Nevada State Championships, will be led by a pair of top-50 four-star junior guards Jase Richardson (6’3) and John Paul Mobley (6’2). Headlining the list of Oregon teams is West Linn High School, which features one of the country’s top point guards – in University of Oregon commit, senior Jackson Shelstad (6’1). Defending 6A State Champion and LSI runner-up, Tualatin High School, led by standout junior Jaden Steppe (6’7) and returning LSI semi-finalist, Beaverton High School, figures to compete with West Linn for the top-ranked team in the state.

Nine other Oregon schools (League and State Classification) round out the 2022 field. Barlow (Mt. Hood Conference– 6A), Central Catholic (Mt. Hood Conference – 6A), Cleveland (Portland Interscholastic League – 6A), Grant (Portland Interscholastic League – 6A), Jesuit (Metro League– 6A), Lake Oswego (Three Rivers League – 6A), Lincoln (Portland Interscholastic League – 6A), Roosevelt (Portland Interscholastic League – 6A), and Tigard (Three Rivers League – 6A).
