Crew Tryout and Learn to Row Information

The sport of rowing has many benefits. It's a great way to improve fitness, make lasting friendships and have fun. Once mastered, rowing and the values it instills will last throughout an athlete's life. No experience is required to join. Brophy Crew has a no-cut policy, so everyone is welcome to come out and learn to row. 
Brophy Crew competes in the Southwest region, one of the strongest areas in the nation for junior rowing. The competition is fierce, with many of the region's clubs, including Brophy Crew, boasting national championship appearances. 

  • Brophy Prep offers an exceptional rowing program to 9th – 12th-grade athletes. 
    • No experience is needed
    • Rowing combines teamwork, fitness, and fun
    • Brophy Prep Crew is a Nationally Ranked, award-winning program rowing on Tempe Town Lake.

Skills learned to include:
    • Basic rowing technique in an eight-oared shell (boat).
    • An understanding of how to transport, launch and dock an eight-oared shell
    • Team building
    • Cardiovascular and strength training 
 
Athletes interested in joining Brophy's competitive crew are encouraged to meet the second week of school, Aug. 22-26, 3–5 PM, in the Loyola Basement Weight Room.
    • Information about Brophy's competitive junior crew program that runs from August to May will be distributed during the celebration that ends the session.
