Four Honored at Arizona High School Sports Awards 

Brophy College Preparatory had four student-athletes recognized at the Arizona High School Sports Awards held at Arizona State University’s Gammage Auditorium on June 11. The four included football player Zac Swanson, golfers Charlie Palmer and Tyler Spielman, and tennis player Jack Brown. The Broncos earned the recognition after earning All-Arizona selections in their respective sports. 

Swanson, who signed to play at the University of Texas, was named to the All-Arizona defensive team in the fall after helping the Broncos to the AIA 6A State playoffs. He had 42 tackles on the season including 18.5 tackles for loss with .4.5 sacks and 11 hurries. He had 17 Division I offers including Kentucky, USC, Oregon, and Texas.
 
Palmer was fifth overall at the 2021 AIA Division I state tournament after rounds of 70 and 71 as the top Bronco, helping the team to a second-place overall finish. He also participated on the Brophy swimming team. He led the team at the Honda Classic High School Invitational, finishing tied for 12th. He ranked sixth overall in scoring on both nine and 18-hole rounds. He was named the Arizona Republic Academic All-Star of the week on Nov. 11. 2021.  

Spielman won the Brophy Invitational with a tournament-record 10-under par, breaking the record held by former Salpointe player Trevor Werbylo. He ranked second among all players in 18-hole scoring.
 

Brown
was named the Premier Region Player of the Year and Section Singles Player of the Year after leading the team to the Division I state championship. He paired with brother Hank ‘23 to win the AIA Division I doubles title, earning the Division I double players of the year recognition. He was also an all-tournament selection at the National High School Tennis All-American Boys Team tournament. 

The Arizona High School Sports Awards is a high school athlete recognition program honoring the area’s top-performing athletes, coaches, and teams. The nine-month program culminates in an in-person awards show with a live appearance from a special guest.
