Lacrosse midfielder Eli Friedman has committed to attending school and playing lacrosse at Marquette University. The Golden Eagles play in the Big East Conference.
“It is a great school and city, and a Jesuit school coming from Brophy,” said Friedman. “There are great coaches and opportunities to play early on in my career. It means a lot. It is my passion; I love the sport, and playing at the highest level for the next four years is a dream of mine.”
He will play for former Team USA gold medalist Jake Richard, who was named the head coach in 2024. He was a standout player at Marquette and has been on the staff since 2017. He was a two-time team captain during his Marquette playing career and led the Golden Eagles’ unprecedented rise to national prominence in just four short seasons, culminating in their first BIG EAST Conference title and NCAA Championship appearance in 2016.
Friedman’s own scouting report is that he “brings a powerful down the hill dodge who can be a contributor and a goal scorer.”
Friedman, who has participated in the Jewish Student Union, Stock Market Club, and Big Brother program while on campus, was named to the All-Arizona team at attack as a junior in 2025 after his 81-goal, 13-assist season. He capped the year by being named Offensive Player of the Game in the state championship game after scoring five goals, helping the Broncos to his third straight state title. He was also an A.L.L. second team choice in 2024, scoring 33 goals with six assists.
“From day one of his freshman year at Brophy, Eli has played an integral part in our team's success,” said Head Coach Pat Harbeson. “As a four-year starter, Eli has accumulated 124 Goals and 25 Assists while consistently drawing the attention of opposing defenders. Beyond the stats, what sets Eli apart is his relentless work ethic as he trains with intent and purpose while elevating those around him.”
Fiedman, who will study business and finance, is grateful to Harbeson for all the lessons learned that have prepared him for this opportunity, notably the work ethic and desire to improve.
“The Brophy program is run like a collegiate program to prepare you for the next level,” said Friendman. “We have a family atmosphere, and we are all brothers on the team. We are looking forward to competing as a program for a five-peat and the fourth of my career.”
Friedman is one of four players in the program who have committed to play in college.
