February Mothers’ Guild Luncheon and Meeting
Thursday, Feb. 14, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Harper Great Hall
We are so pleased to invite Kristin Venberg, Academic Resource Center coordinator, to speak in February. Kristin will cover the role of the ARC, which is new this year, and will address the always changing teenage brain. How does that gray matter function? Or not?! And she will discuss how parents can assist their children in making better decisions - something that can be challenging for teens due to lack of processing. This is not one to miss! Please contact Jean Cody
if you have questions about the meeting.
Spring Mothers’ Guild Retreats
All Classes: Friday, March 1, 11:30 a.m. to Saturday, March 2, 11:30 a.m., Manresa Retreat Center
It’s time for spring cleaning, and the retreat sign-up process is no exception. We’ve decided to alter the Spring Retreat sign-up process in order to simplify it for you, the retreat attendee. We are getting away from the shotgun sign-up and moving to a random drawing selection process. This applies to the retreat for all classes (March 1-2, 2019). Here’s how it will work:
1. On sign-up day, Monday, Jan. 14, if you’d like to go on the Spring Retreat, you can submit an interest form anytime between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. You’ll need to fill in a few blanks and then you’re officially in the drawing. If you have a sophomore son, you’re registered as a sophomore. If you have a senior son, you’re registered as a senior. If you have more than one son, you’ll be registered as the oldest son.
2. If there are more people signed up than Manresa can accommodate, there will be a drawing to select the attendees. For example, if we have too many junior moms registered, names will be drawn from the junior “pot” to select who goes.
Priority will be given to moms who have not been on retreat. Please understand that we’re trying to make sure everyone who wants to go on retreat during her son’s time at Brophy gets a chance. We understand you may have questions, so feel free to ask! Contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Senior Mom Retreat: Saturday, March 2, 11:30 a.m. through Sunday, March 3, 11:30 a.m., Manresa Retreat Center
The sign-up for the Senior Mom Retreat will be as it has been in the past – sign-up works on a first-come-first-served basis, so be ready to be at your computer at
6 a.m., Monday, Jan. 14. Contact Brophyseniors@gmail.com
with any questions.
Out of respect for all attending, we ask that you register ONLY if you are able to stay for the entire retreat. NO late arrivals or early departures are permitted, nor may you leave and return mid-retreat. Please check your calendar (and your son's calendar!) before you register.
Lenten Prayer Service
Thursday, March 7, 8.45-11.15 a.m., Brophy Chapel and Jesuit Garden
Please join us for an uplifting morning of music, prayer, reading and reflection in our beautiful Brophy Chapel. All faiths are welcome. Following the service, a light luncheon will be served in the Jesuit Garden. Watch for a digital invitation in February. If you’d like to help with this event, we’d love to hear from you! Contact Orfe Kelly at email@example.com
or Karen Ahearne at firstname.lastname@example.org
Brophy Prayer Chain
The Brophy Prayer Group is committed to offering prayer support for anyone in the Brophy community who has a medical or personal concern. These Prayer Warriors are here for you in time of need, and also if you desire to send an intention for prayers. Prayer requests received will be shared by email with the prayer group, along with scripture that will inspire each person that participates. Each member will pray for the specific intention request in their own special way. Please contact Christy O’Gara
with your requests, and please confirm the family is aware and requests our prayers. Email Christy if you would like to be added to the Brophy Prayer Chain group.
Pray the Rosary
Thursdays, 8:30 a.m., Brophy Chapel
Please join us as we pray the Rosary every Thursday for our Brophy community! We will meet in the Brophy Chapel on Thursdays at 8:30 a.m. for the remainder of the school year. Everyone is invited ... moms, dads, family members, and friends! If you have questions, contact Susan Pataq
. “The holy Rosary is a powerful weapon. Use it with confidence and you’ll be amazed at the results.” ~St. Josemaria Escriva
