Basketball Drops Hoophall West Game to St. Mary’s

Saint Mary’s posted a comeback win with a fourth-quarter run to defeat Brophy 69-63 in the Hoophall West tournament at Chaparral High School on Friday.

The Knights went 12-for-12 at the free throw line in the fourth quarter and went 17-for-18 for the game, doubling the attempts by the Broncos and posting a 13-point advantage at the line.

Senior Arman Madi led the Broncos with 21 points and junior Braeden Speed added 19 points. Freshman Daylen Sharper scored 15 points.

The Broncos led by 12 points with 4:24 left in the third quarter for its largest lead and shot 54 percent in the third quarter in extending a 34-31 halftime lead. But the Knights; comeback gave the Broncos (3-2) a second-straight loss.

Brophy travels to Chandler on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
