Every day begins with prayer. Student leaders remind the community that we are in God’s loving presence and we open our hearts to God to start our day. We offer special prayer intentions for those families who may be experiencing loss or illness or who are facing a particular challenge that day.

The Brophy Chapel is a beautiful, sacred space. Throughout the day, students can take advantage of its quiet and spiritual focus; however, each week the chapel comes alive with communal prayer as well.

  • During the school year, Mass is celebrated Wednesdays at 12:10 p.m. for students and faculty.
  • During the school year, Sunday Mass is celebrated in Brophy Chapel at 10 a.m.
  • The sacrament of reconciliation is offered during Advent and Lent, and by appointment.

The Daily Examen

Every full school day at Brophy, we pray the Examen. The Daily Examen is a technique of prayerful reflection on the events of the day in order to detect God’s presence and discern his direction for us. The Examen is an ancient practice in the Church that can help us see God’s hand at work in our whole experience. The method we use at Brophy is adapted from a technique described by Ignatius Loyola in his Spiritual Exercises. Once again, student leaders guide us, asking the three questions of the Examen for quiet reflection:

How is God at work in my life?
How have I responded to God’s presence in my life?
How am I being called to respond now?
Brophy’s faculty and staff gather for prayer every Thursday morning in the chapel at 7:45 a.m. A faculty member leads a reflection or offers scripture and then petitions are offered. We pray the Lord’s Prayer and ask God to give us the grace to do his work in our vocation as educators.
