The following faculty and staff members served on the 2010 planning team:

KIM BALDWIN – Chair

Assistant Principal for Ministry

Mrs. Baldwin grew up in Phoenix and attended Arizona State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education. After graduating she volunteered one year with Holy Cross Associates in Colorado. Mrs. Baldwin graduated from The Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley with a Masters of Divinity (MDiv) in 2005. She then worked in Campus Ministry at the Newman Center at ASU. Mrs. Baldwin came to Brophy in 2006 teaching theology and working in campus ministry.  In her current role as Assistant Principal for Ministry Mrs. Baldwin teaches Gospels in Action and oversees the Office of Faith and Justice which facilitates all programs related to faith formation on campus: liturgies, retreats, service programs, community outreach, and our Summit on Human Dignity.

TIM BROYLES

Mr. Broyles grew up in Phoenix. He attended Arizona State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s in Secondary Education. He and his wife lived and worked in Mexico and Central America for five years, and he currently coordinates Brophy’s El Salvador trip. He has taught English at Brophy since 1993.

Currently Mr. Broyles teaches in the English and Religious Studies Departments as well as working in the Office of Faith and Justice.

DOUG COX
Mr. Cox earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Arizona State University in 2000, and he earned a Masters of Education in Secondary Education (Mathematics) from Northern Arizona University in 2003.  Mr. Cox joined the Brophy faculty in 2004 and has taught various courses in the mathematics department.  Additionally, he oversees the development and administration of the math department’s online testing and assessment software.  Mr. Cox is also very involved with Brophy athletics.

LLOYD DAGGETT

Mr. Daggett earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. John’s College and a Licentiate of Theology from Gregorian University in Rome.  He has been a member of the Brophy faculty since 1992.  Mr. Daggett teaches Latin I, Latin III. He is moderator of  Mock Trial.

CHRISTINE GALLAGHER

Miss Gallagher graduated from Georgetown University in Washington DC with a degree in American Studies.  She grew up in Philadelphia.  She is at Brophy for the year through the Jesuit Volunteer Corps program.  As a Jesuit Volunteer, she works in the Office of Faith and Justice and teaches religion to freshmen.

KELLY GUFFEY

Ms. Guffey attended Arizona State University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Communications. She also has a Post-Baccalaureate degree in Secondary Education from Rio Salado College and is currently working toward a Master’s degree in Communication from Northern Arizona University.  Before coming to Brophy, she was a Speech and Debate coach at Shadow Mountain High School.  She has been involved in competitive Speech and Debate as a competitor, judge and coach since 1991. Ms. Guffey teaches American Government, Economics, and AP Macroeconomics. She also coaches the Brophy Speech and Debate team.

MICHAEL KNICKREHM, SJ

Mr. Michael Knickrehm, S.J. grew up in Los Angeles, California, Anchorage, Alaska, and Perth, Australia. He attended Loyola Marymount University where he received a B.A. in international business and an M.B.A with an emphasis in finance. Before entering the Society of Jesus, Michael worked for United Way, ConocoPhillips, and Northrop Grumman in varying business capacities. He joined the Brophy faculty in the fall of 2009. He currently teaches Intro to Video Production and Understanding Catholic Christianity. He is also the director of the Work Opportunity Grant Program.

PATRICK KOLB

Mr. Kolb attended college at Saint Louis University and Truman State University in Missouri before transferring to Arizona State University where he earned his B.S. in Biology.  Afterwards, he continued at ASU, receiving a Masters in genetics. Mr. Kolb also possesses Masters of Education with an emphasis on secondary science education. He currently teaches Environmental Geology, co-coaches the Science Bowl teams and runs the Environmental Club.

Mr. Kolb joined the faculty at Brophy in June of 2008. He has taught science at private, public and charter schools since 1993. In his free time, Mr. Kolb enjoys hiking, exercising and reading.

ANDY MAZZOLINI

Andy Mazzolini has taught science in Phoenix for the past 24 years.  He earned a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Arizona in 1983 after moving to Arizona from Northern Virginia.  He received a Masters of Natural Science from Arizona State University in 1993.  He has taught everything from biology to chemistry to physics and enjoys how all sciences interrelate to one another.

LANE MCSHANE ‘82

Mr. McShane earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Masters of Education degree from ASU and ASU WEST. He has been a member of the Brophy faculty since 1994, and an alum of BCP ‘82. Mr. McShane teaches English I and  English II. He is the moderator of the  Covert American Politics Club, the Monty Python Club and the Musicians exchange Club. He knows who killed JFK and is still protesting the Vietnam Police Action.

MIKE NELSON ‘96

Mr. Nelson attended Santa Clara University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Studio. He completed graduate course work in Architecture and Digital Media at the University of Florida, and is working on his Master’s in Educational Technology. Mr. Nelson joined the faculty in 2001 where he taught Graphic Design, Painting, Introduction to Fine Arts, and AP Studio Art in the Fine Arts Department.

DEACON JOE STICKNEY

Joseph Stickney graduated from Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose, CA and received a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Letters from Gonzaga University in Spokane WA. He has two Masters Degrees, one in Theology from Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Cambridge, MA and another in Education from Arizona State University. Joe has been at Brophy since 1985.

Joe is married to Diana, who coordinates graduate theological studies for the University of San Francisco at the Kino Institute in Phoenix. They have four children. They are certified instructors in Natural Family Planning (Comprehensive Sympto-Thermal method). Joe has an amateur’s interest in astronomy.

Joe was ordained a Deacon of the Diocese of Phoenix in November, 2002.

Mr. Welty earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Loyola Marymount University. He has been a member of the Brophy faculty since 1988.  He has taught AP Physics, Honors Physics, Ethics in Science & Technology.
