Summit Day Trip to the Kino Border Inititive

The Kino Border Initiative is an innovative and cooperative effort between six major religious organizations that strive to accompany migrants and communities affected by the consequences of migration.  The KBI is strategically located in the twin cities of Ambos Nogales (southern AZ and northern Sonora), which is a major port of entry and deportation for migrants in the southwest. http://www.kinoborderinitiative.org/Kino_Border_Initiative/Welcome.html

This past November, Brophy ventured down to the KBI with ten students, Mr. Edward Cullen, and Deacon Joe Stickney.  They had a positive experience working with the migrants and the communities affected by the consequences of migration.  The success of the trip has warranted another immersion experience down in Nogales.

On March 6th, 2010, as we close our 2010 Summit on Human Dignity Brophy students will once again travel down to Nogales to work with migrants, and learn about important immigration issues.  This is a wonderful opportunity to see first hand some of the effects of globalization.  We expect the trip to immerse Brophy students in the difficult lifestyle of a migrant and pose challenging questions about what globalization is and how it affects some of our closest neighbors.

Applications are now available in the Office of Faith and Justice.  Please see Mr. Cullen in the Office of Faith and Justice or email him at ecullen@brophyprep.org.
