Summit on Human Dignity

About

Brophy College Preparatory 2010 Summit on Human Dignity

Room at the Table:

Globalization, Economic Justice and Human Dignity

A Forum to Examine Economics and Globalization in Light of Our Gospel Call to Respect and Promote the Human Dignity of Each Person.

Monday, February 22nd marks the official start of the 2010 Summit on Human Dignity.  This two week, campus-wide annual event is in its 6th year.  The Summit is an opportunity for students to explore a current issue as it relates to human dignity through speakers and presentations, discussions and dialogue, exhibits and displays, and through curricular connections being made in the classroom.  The Summit on Human Dignity is one way Brophy seeks to fulfill our Jesuit mission of “providing students with the intellectual, moral and spiritual formation that will enable them to make a commitment to service – that will make them agents of change.” (#81, Go Forth and Teach: The Characteristics of Jesuit Education, 1987)

The 2010 Summit will run February 22nd-March 5th.  Through this Summit, we hope to create a forum in which the Brophy community, and in particular our students, will consider the realities of economics and globalization, as well as the Catholic tradition’s perspective on how to navigate these realities in just and sustainable ways, so as to guide our personal and communal response.
