Summit Keynote
Rev. Tobias Karcher, S.J.
Fr. Tobias Karcher, S.J., our opening Mass presider, will also offer the Summit keynote address. Fr. Karcher will not only set the stage for what the students will experience over the next ten days, but will also make the connection early on between climate change, poverty and equity. Fr. Karcher will help students view this year’s Summit topic through the lens of faith, dignity and ethical responsibility by exploring the meaning of stewardship and how a commitment to stewardship on a personal, local, national and global level is not only an appropriate response to environmental concerns but a necessary response.
Fr. Karcher and the Heinrich Pesch Haus in Germany hosted a delegation of Brophy students led by faculty member Mrs. Patty Mazier at the start of the 2008-09 school year at an international youth conference on climate change. The Heinrich Pesch Haus is hosting another international conference on this topic in January. You may view the conference program at Climate Change Conference at Heinrich Pesch Haus- english.pdf
