Tournament Brackets
December 29:
Brophy Christmas Spirit was back in FULL force today as the Broncos returned to the Franklin "Doc" Zinke Gymnasium 17 hours after playing St. Marys to face their Jesuit opponents from Loyola in a battle for third place in the Holiday Shoot-Out. And what a shoot out it was!!!!!!! Our Broncos scored 72 points to defeat Loyola who came up short with 62. It was a remarkable display of determination, pride and talent!!! Playing without one of our senior starters who suffered a concussion in the previous game vs. St. Mary's our team came out strong and united. A beautiful 3 pointer got us up on the board to start and we were off and running. We went to the line over and over and the free throws were flying through the hoop. We led at half time and never looked back - The Cubs kept pawing at us - bringing themselves within 4 points with 2:49 to go in the game when the score was 57-53 but the Broncos dug in and pulled out a victory and third place in the tournament - they have won the last 3 of 4 games they have played and 2008 looks like an exciting year for our Brophy Basketball team!
Many many thanks to our loyal fans who showed up during this Christmas break to support our boys, and a special thanks to our Principal Mr. Ryan and his wife who brought along their Irish luck and came to watch every game. A special thanks as well to our wonderful Varsity parents who supported our boys and showed once again that they are the BEST basketball parents!! Happy New Year to all and see you back at the Brophy Gym in 2008!!

It was a holiday battle with the Christmas colors of BROPHY RED vs St. Mary's GREEN at McClintock last night. The Broncos came out strong with a 6-0 run to start the game fueled by great fan support. By half time the battle was in full swing and the score 25-22 in favor of the Knights. The Broncos battled on in the second half bringing the score to 61-54 with 35 seconds to go. But the color green prevailed and the final was 64-54.
The Brophy Broncos head back to the gym on Saturday at 3:30 pm where they take on Loyola from California for 3rd place in the tournament. It will be the Jesuits from Phoenix vs the Jesuits from California- Broncos vs Cubs - GO BROPHY!!!!!
December 27:
What's out there on the Horizon? Yep, it was the shut-it-down, 'out on Horizon' DEFENSE that set the tone for the BIG win for our Brophy Broncos tonight! BCP advanced to the semi-finals of the McClintock Holiday Shoot-out with a 55-26 win over Horizon High School tonight in a game that was controlled by Brophy all the way. The starting set had us up by 19 points at the half (those 3-pointers were going in at will!), and the players that came in off the bench strengthened the lead to 29 when it was all over. Great team play, good sportsmanship, and a fan-pleaser in every way.
December. 26:
Brophy beat Mountain Pointe today in the first round of play in the McClintock Holiday Shoot-out with a score of 67 to 55! Our Broncos came out in the first half playing tough defense and held the Mountain Pointe 'PRIDE' to just 17 points at the half! The third quarter was Brophy's 'exclamation pointe' with balanced play from an 8-man rotation. Free throws were going in, and we were up by 13. Our team had to work hard against a late run from the PRIDE that got them to within 6 with 2:13 left in the game. It was a great finish and every sneaker hit the floor before it was all over. Great win, Broncos!
