Congratulations Wrestling!The Brophy Wrestling Team easily won their sectional tournament at Desert Vista High School. The Broncos put six wrestlers in the finals, and ended up with five individual champions. Nine wrestlers represented Brophy at the State Tournament at ASU.
Michael Eitinear ’11 Eagle ScoutThe Leaders and Scouts of Boy Scout Troop #148 at Ss. Simon and Jude School announced that Michael Eitinear has completed the requirements and was found worthy of the rank of Eagle Scout. Congratulations, Michael.
Kiefer Forseth ’10 Named Candidate in U.S. Presidential Scholars ProgramKiefer Forseth has been named a candidate for the 2010 United States Presidential Scholars Program. With nearly 3.2 million students expected to graduate from American high schools in 2010, inclusion in the Presidential Scholars program is one of the highest honors bestowed upon graduating high school seniors.
National Merit FinalistsCongratulations to the following members of the Class of 2010 who have been named Finalists in the National Achievement Scholarship Program. They are among the top 15,000 students in their class who took the PSAT last year and they will continue in the competition to become one of 8,200 National Merit Scholars.
The Brophy/Xavier Theatre Department Announces its Spring Production, ‘Pride and Prejudice’ by Jane AustenDates for the performances are Thursday, March 4 through Saturday, March 6 at 7 p.m. There will also be a matinee performance on Saturday, March 6 at 1:30 p.m. Performances will be held in the Kemper and Ethel Marley Theatre in the Virginia G. Piper Performing Arts Center located on the Xavier campus.
‘Guys and Dolls’ hits the stage March 18-20.Brophy-Xavier Theatre will present “Guys and Dolls,” one of Broadway’s most popular musical comedies of all time, for three performances only: March 18, 19, 20, 2010. Tickets are available, March 1 by calling Ms. Dennard in the Bophy Student Activites Center (602) 264-5291 for reservations. Price for all tickets is $7.00 and the curtain for all shows is at 7:00 p.m.
Brennan takes 1st place in statewide video compositionRiley Brennan from Brophy's Advanced Video class recently took 1st Place at the 2010 AZ Student Film festival in the High School PSA category.
Brophy Freshman WrestlingCongratulations to the Baby Grapplers who wrestled in the All AZ State Freshman Tournament in Cottonwood. The Broncos wrestled 6 medals when the day was done, our highest total ever at this tournament. One-third of the 18 frosh placed in the top four in their weight classes. Kaleb Mosier and Chase Frank finished 2
nd. AJ Gariboldi finished 3
rd. Kasey Caruso, Seth Hernandez, and Dimas Burquez finished 4
th.
Bronco Named National Achievement FinalistJosh Burkholder ’10 has been named a 2010 Finalist in the National Achievement Scholarship Program. This places him among the top students in his class who took the PSAT last year. He will now go on to be considered for a National Achievement Scholarship to be offered to outstanding Black American students in 2010.
Bronco Named Scholar AthleteThe Valley of the Sun Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame has named Max Leonesio ‘10 as one of 41 Scholar Athletes. Max was named to the First Team.
Bring Back the 6th Man at Basketball Games!The Brophy Student Council would like to invite all students to Bring Back the 6th Man!
“What was the 6th man?” you may ask. The 6th Man was a thunderous, intimidating, red-clad mass of Brophy and Xavier students seen at every home basketball game just a few short years ago.

Congratulations to the Varsity Football Team and Coaching StaffThe Broncos were presented the Matt O. Hanhila Sportsmanship Award. This award is presented to the Outstanding Team Which Displayed the Best Sportsmanship in the 5A1 Conference. The award was presented by the Arizona Football Officials Association.
Brophy RoboticsThe Brophy Robotics team won the state FTC robotics tournament in Flagstaff on Saturday, December 5. The victory means that they are eligible to compete on the National level. Congratulations!
