Mothers' Guild-3

Dear Mothers’ Guild Members:

I hope you are all enjoying your summer.  We have a busy year planned ahead of us.  Many of our committees have been hard at work already.  Special thanks to Jeni Williams, Jennifer Gibson and Andrea Smith who have put together the mailing for the New Student Sponsorship Committee and to our carpool committee Laura Seitz and Asha Solsi for helping families connect with one another to form carpools.  Thank you also to Kelli Rice for organizing an incredible overnight hike down the Grand Canyon for twenty-one members of the Hiking Club. Grace Edgar, our Second Vice-President, did a wonderful job organizing the reception for our senior boys and their family after the Baccalaureate Mass.  Thank you to everyone who helped Grace at the reception.

Our theme this year for the Guild is “Grow Where You’ve Been Planted!”  We hope you will take the time to do exactly that.   Our hope is that we all find a place within the Guild that we can call our own, and cultivate our own garden.  Please take the time to discover where your talents can and should be used.  We have numerous committees that need your help.  Our committees have opportunities for you to give of your time during the day, evening or on weekends, and a time commitment that fits your schedule. A volunteer form is included in this newsletter.  Even if you cannot help on a committee, please try to set aside just 90 minutes once a month so we can all come together for our monthly meetings.  We have day and evening meetings with the intent that you will learn more about the school and we can learn from each other.

Please mark your calendars for our first Guild meeting.  Our first day meeting will be September 4, 2008.  We will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a short welcome Mass in the Chapel, followed by our regular meeting and lunch at 11:30 in the Great Hall.  Our program will be Planting the Seeds—Mothers’ Guild Committees, A Conversation With Brophy Principle Bob Ryan, and Knowing Who’s Who and Who’s New Among Faculty and Staff.    Our first evening meeting will be September 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Black Box Theater, followed by our Parent Information Program.  Other meeting dates, committee meetings, and Mothers’ Guild events will be posted on the Brophy web site under Mothers’ Guild.

We have all been planted here at Brophy for a reason. Those reasons are often varied.  So we ask that while you are here, you take the time to establish your roots and grow and blossom with us.   I look forward to serving you and with you this school year.
