Your schedules are now available to view on NetClassroom for the 2012-2013 school year.
A few important notes about schedules – First, please be aware that schedules are run in order of priority. The first priority is to schedule students for classes that fulfill graduation requirements. This is done to ensure that by the end of their tenure here, students have enough credits to fulfill requirements and thus graduate on time. The second priority is to schedule students for requested electives. Though Brophy would like students to receive all of their requested electives, there will inevitably be conflicts in the schedule program, classes that are full, or other graduation requirements to take that prevent students from receiving all of their requested electives. If you were not scheduled for an elective that you requested, the class conflicted with another course you requested or that the class filled up before your schedule was created. This is especially true with Xavier and Fine Arts classes. The most likely reason you did not get an elective is that it conflicted with another required class. This is especially the case where we only offer one section of a course, such as Advanced Placement Science and Math and many Fine Arts classes. Finally, please remember that per Brophy’s policy, we will not change schedules for any student based on teacher preference.
As diligent as we are in trying to ensure that each student’s schedule is correct, inevitably there are errors that arise either in the inputting of course requests or in the scheduling process itself. If you believe there is an error concerning your schedule, please email scheduling@brophyprep.org and share your name, grade, and what you believe the error to be. You must also copy your counselor on this email as well, or your request will be considered incomplete and will not be processed. Errors might include being registered for fewer than seven periods, missing a graduation requirement such as a Religious Studies, English or Math class, or being enrolled in the incorrect Language class. If these or any other errors are present in your schedule, please follow the instructions above and the scheduling office will review your schedule and address the issue accordingly. You and your counselor will be contacted by email as soon as there is a resolution to the issue. Your patience in this process is appreciated as there may be a need to contact other teachers and administrators in order to resolve your scheduling situation. Additionally, all requests for promotion into Honors and AP classes require the approval of the Department Chair. You may send these emails throughout July.
Please note that errors do not include receiving elective courses that you did not request or having two semester courses from the same discipline in the same semester [i.e. U.S. Government and Economics]. If you would like to inquire about the availability of alternate electives, you must contact your counselor to discuss the available electives and how those may affect the rest of your schedule. Finally, counselor approval will be required for all changes to ensure that not only graduation requirements are being met, but to also ensure that students do not jeopardize admission opportunities by neglecting to take appropriate courses for the colleges or universities they hope to attend.
The scheduling office will be closed until August 2nd, when schedule changes will resume through the 1st semester Add/Drop period. Only error corrections or approved placement changes will be processed between July 2nd and August 2nd. No discretionary changes will be made in this period. When the scheduling office reopens, requests will be processed according to the priorities listed above, most notably graduation requirements and Honors / AP placements changes will occur before elective changes. Furthermore, please do not call the school or email specific administrators about schedules; all schedule change requests will be processed through scheduling@brophyprep.org only. Counselors will be available in their offices for interested students to drop in August 6th, 7th, and 8th, between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon to discuss graduation requirements and scheduling. Counselors will also be available during your registration session on Monday, August 13th. I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to meet with your counselor regarding questions you may have about schedule changes. Finally, students will receive a new copy of their schedules during registration that will reflect updated changes.
