As the 2010-2011 school year comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on the last few months and the roller coaster of activity that characterizes springtime at Brophy. As a staff, we seem to split time and energy between ending this year well and preparing enthusiastically for the year to come.

With great sadness, we mourn the loss of Marshall Mathew ’10 who died suddenly over the weekend. Marshall was just about to finish his freshman year at Depauw University in Indiana. Please hold the Mathew family close in prayer.
Senior Exams – Senior exams are given May 11th, 12th, and 13th. Once a student has taken the final exam for the class on these days, he will not attend that class again.
9th-11th Grade Exams are May 18-20th.
Chris Jensen ’02, is working on completing his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology in San Francisco, with a focus on children and technology. As a part of that degree he is currently conducting research on parental perspectives and use of media in their home, and is looking for volunteers to participate.
Mass and orientation for those members of the Class of 2015 who will be taking SHEP this summer will be Tuesday, May 17th at 6:30 p.m. in Brophy Chapel. Book distribution and class orientation follows Mass in Piper 114.
This year freshman students and faculty of Brophy donated 3500 hours of community service working with the homeless and the working poor of Phoenix through St. Vincent De Paul.
This year we raised over $11,000 during the Lenten Drive which will be distributed to families and organizations to help alleviate poverty and aid in stability.
Join the Brophy CSA Summer Session staged on campus during summer school. On Wednesday’s, pick up your fresh farm foods such as tomatoes, corn, basil, squash, melons, onions, apricots, okra and chilies.
Over the Easter vacation there were two science competitions that Brophy students participated in and did very well.
During the Easter vacation the Brophy Math Team, (all freshmen – Andrew Salmon, Aakash Jain, Matthew Worley and Raj Vatsa), won the State Math Championship.
The Brophy Quiz Bowl participated in the final local quiz bowl tournament of the 2010-2011 competitive season. The two Brophy teams took first and second place, with the first place team (A Team) going undefeated.
Congratulations to the Knowledge Masters team who once again took the state championship in this academic competition.
