Dear Brophy Moms:
Welcome to Brophy and Mothers’ Guild! Our theme for this year aptly describes Mothers’ Guild at its most basic level – we are Mothers for Others – for our families, our sons, the Brophy community and each other. Whether you are a new Brophy mom or a current one, the Mothers’ Guild offers a wide variety of opportunities to join the Brophy community.
Keeping moms up-to-date on “everything Brophy” is one of our goals. Here are three ways to keep you informed:
- Monday E-News: a weekly email newsletter published by the Mothers’ Guild that all moms receive every Monday. If you are not receiving it, please contact Brigid Skoog at bkskoog@cox.net.
- Mothers’ Guild website (www.brophymothersguild.org) offers an online calendar for all of our events as well as links to documents and forms.
- Facebook: Brophy Mothers’ Guild is on Facebook. It’s a great place to keep up with what’s going on and post your questions.
Please plan to join us at these fun and informative events:
New Parent Coffee – August 13th at 7:30am in Harper Great Hall
After you drop your son off for Orientation, walk over to the Great Hall and meet other moms, dads, Mothers’ Guild Committee Co-Chairs, and Brophy administration as you learn about all we have to offer.
New Mom Pot-Luck Luncheon – Sept. 5th at 11:30am
An opportunity to meet freshman moms in a relaxed setting. An evite will be sent out this summer.
Mothers’ Guild Welcome Mass and Meeting – Sept. 13th
All mothers are invited to attend Mass at 10:30am in the Chapel (all faiths welcome) followed by a complimentary light lunch and our first Guild Meeting at 11:30am in Harper Great Hall. Freshman moms will have tables reserved so you can meet moms of your son’s classmates. Principal Bob Ryan will share with us his plans for the school year.
There are so many ways to be involved at Brophy. Our Guild meetings are once a month during the day and we include three evening meetings to accommodate working parents. There is something for everyone – you can join any of our 30+ different committees. If you’re not sure how much time you have, you can sign up to be a general volunteer which means we will call you when we need help at various events throughout the year. And, if you like to bake, we can really put you to work – there are always events during the year that need cookies. The volunteer form is available on the website to make it easy for you to sign up. We hope that the new friends and opportunities you find at Brophy will richly enhance your family’s high school experience.
