Brophy Track and Field meeting on Tuesday February 1^st at break (9:50) in Mr. Kalkmans classroom (P 114) for all Brophy students who are participating in Track and Field this spring.  The first track practice is on Monday February 7^th at 3:00 at the Brophy Sports Complex Track.  Students must have permission forms and current annual doctor physical information turned at least one school day before you begin practice (Friday Feb. 4^th).

2.      Distance runners should now be running - increase days (5-6 days per week) and distances so that you can run 1 hour continuously by January 24^th.

3.      We will host an invitational on Friday March 11^th with the Team Decathlon entry and scoring format like the Nike National championship meet we attended last July.  'A' team and 'B' team to compete in the 10 events (no relays, no 3200m, no 300 hurdles, no 200m, and no triple jump)   The meet will go fast (4pm - 7:30pm).

4.      Schedule related - We will start with an invitational at Mesa Mountain View on Friday March 4^th.  This 8 team meet will have normal events and additional relay events (medley, hurdle shuttle) and all of the field events will be awarded individually but team scored as a 3 man relay group. 

5.      Scoring at State Championship is a big challenge starting this spring (55 schools in Division 1).  See the attachment for the list of schools.

6.      There is no region this year, so no region meet.  You qualify for state at big meets like the Chandler Rotary, Arcadia, Westwood.....

Track and Field Winter Workouts - Running, strength training, and conditioning activities will begin tomorrow (Tuesday, Nov. 30^th) after school (3:00 - 4:00).  We we will meet at 3:00 on the Loyola practice field (between the gym and the Great Hall) for warm-up and then run over to the Brophy Sports Complex track area for a light running workout and an aerobic game activity.  Our winter team conditioning group will meet again for a workout on Thursday this week, and Tuesday/Thursday next week.  The workout destination after we meet at Loyola field will be different each day - so be on time to meet at 3:00. 

Those who plan to compete in track this spring and who are not out for a winter sport are expected to attend (all events).  The main purpose for these workouts are to get started on a general conditioning base on which we will build into specific track and field event training later.  During final exam week and the 2 weeks of Christmas break, you will run/train on your own.  In January we will start 7^th hour track and short after school workouts daily utilizing the weight room and running.  Track season practices start on Monday, February 7^th.

The Brophy track team is back from Eugene.  Track Town USA (U of Oregon 
facility) and host Nike was outstanding.  All of us - teams and coaches - had a 
great time.  
The Brophy team finished in 8th place of the 12 best teams in the USA with 
approx. 7200 points.  1st place boys (Murrieta California) scored around 7900 
points.  All of our athletes had solid performances but no one had a PR 
(personal record).  Alex Bishop won the pole vault competition.  
The Chandler girls team won  - they are 2010 National Track Champions.
