Junior Research Project English Department Purpose: The purpose of this project is to provide all Brophy juniors with the experience of writing a fully-developed research project and argumentative essay, which we call the Position Paper. The primary goal of this project is to arrive at an enduring understanding of how to develop an informed opinion about a complex problem or issue facing society (called a Topic from here on) and how to advocate in an essay for a certain action or group of actions regarding that problem. The hope of this project is to help you to move from a novice to an expert about a topic of your choice. You should derive your topic from the overall theme of Decline in America.
