At Brophy College Prep, where our sum and goal is Jesus Christ, the English Department works to develop and nurture "Men for Others" for the greater glory of God. As a religious, as well as an academic institution, we are concerned with both transcendental values and technical proficiency. Thus our whole program is a synthesis of these two goals.
In an increasingly secularized world, we engage our students in a values-centered approach to a diverse body of literature so they may personally discern and publicly acknowledge the Divine in themselves and others. Ignatian Humanism is the center point of our curriculum and our methods of instruction.
We aim to help students become critical thinkers and readers who can clearly and convincingly express their ideas in both oral and written forms. Thus our students may acquire the skills of analysis and communication necessary for academic, professional and personal achievement and growth.
