The Counselors of Brophy College Prep provide counseling services for academic, social, and personal issues. The mission of Brophy strives to focus on five attributes for the graduate at graduation: intellectually competent, loving, open to growth, committed to doing justice, and religious. Counselors work within this framework when interacting with students via individual and group counseling. The Brophy Counseling Department prides itself on the special one-on-one relationships provided to students. This relationship entails guidance on an academic, social and spiritual level. Most meetings are held in a more relaxed setting where students are encouraged to discuss issues relating to classroom, family and peer issues. Confidentiality is adhered to strictly.*
Besides one-on-one meetings, group work is available to assist students improve their life skills and deal with difficult peer issues such as divorce, depressions, drugs, alcohol, and loss of a friend or family member.
The Counseling Department plays a vital role in assisting students with scheduling classes and completing their academic plan for college. College guidance is given to students and families regarding the admission process, scholarship and financial aid opportunities. Workshops are given throughout the academic year for students and parents. Brophy also provides students the opportunity to meet, interview, and learn more about specific colleges by hosting a college fair and coordinating school visits by college admission representatives.
*Confidentiality between student and counselor is strictly adhered to. Exceptions include reporting child abuse and neglect, and danger to self or others
