Research Databases

The Information Commons subscribes to several article and research databases covering a wide range of disciplines. Some databases provide full articles from scholarly and popular magazines. All of the databases can be accessed through Blackboard using the Information Commons Resources course page. The student may initially need to enroll in the Information Commons Resources course. Below is a summary of the resources available through Blackboard.

Phoenix Public Library
The following databases from Phoenix Public Library are great resources to support the Brophy curriculum:

  • Literature Resource Center—This comprehensive sources provides literary criticisms and literary biographies.

  • EBSCO –Full articles are provided on a wide-variety of topics

  • Biography Resource Center- Search for biographies from this comprehensive biographical reference database.

  • Grove Dictionary of Art Online

  • Grove’s Dictionary of Music and Opera Online

  • Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia

  • Health and Wellness Resource Center—It offers medical and health reference sources and full articles on health and wellness issues.

  • Lands and Peoples Online-This online encyclopedia of countries, cultures and geography also features a global news desk, electronic atlas and almanac.
